Dating After Divorce: Stop Worrying and Anticipate Good Things!

Yesterday was a tough day for me. I had a strange interaction with a woman I do business with. She has a tendency to "read into" my emails, thinking that I’m being snotty or flippant, when that was not my intention. I simply said call me if you want to brainstorm and she heard the voice in her head saying – yeah go ahead and call me, like I want to hear from you! No kidding that is what she thought.

Honestly, this freaked me out. Why? Because I bend over backwards to please this woman, yet she thinks of me this way. Hmmmm. What’s wrong with this picture?

I admit I woke up at 4 am worrying about this situation. We do a lot of work together. But I have no control over what she thinks, how she views me or when this relationship will self-destruct. Yikes. I kept trying to think of how I could fix this potentially devastating  situation.

So, I did something I haven’t done in quite a while. I decided to write to myself, my higher self that is or angels maybe, or my intuition perhaps, to ask for help. The response was nothing short of amazing!

Here’s what I wrote:

"Stop worrying about what you cannot change. Accept that your work relationship will end. And when it does, it will be a reflection of you moving up the energetic and work ladder to better things. And it will be a relief. Stop wasting time over what might happen and feeling bad about it in advance. Instead, start expecting something better and anticipate good things!"

Remarkable! Words cannot express the tremendous burden that dropped from my shoulders as I re-read those words on the page. Did I write that? Could that wisdom actually be hiding, bottled up inside me? How lucky am I that I took the time to ask and got such a wonderful, helpful answer?

Let me ask you a question. What are you worried about? How might this apply to your every day life or your love life? The fact that we cannot change people holds true for everyone. People will think what they want and do what they want. We can ask the people we love to try things our way. Some might give it a shot and others won’t. Either way, keep in mind this old adage that is deeply true:

When one door closes, another door opens.

I often forget the second part about the new door opening! My focus is on the loss, which is understandable, but something new is also available. And frequently, it’s something better suited to me. I’m pretty sure that’s true for you as well. Once again, this is a great tip for manifesting your desires. Focus on what you want rather than what you don’t want. Just as "The Secret" and the Law of Attraction plainly state.

I hope you find my morning’s inspiration helpful in case you are worrying abut something.

Dating Over 40: Is Dating Advice from Men Better?

In an article entitled Men Do it Better from Globe Life, David Coleman and David Wygant, both dating coaches, insist that men give much better dating advice then women do for women. They claim that the advice women give is too complicated – like judging a man by his shoes or his watch. Or manipulative marketing techniques to get a guy to ask you out.

Nonsense. I always promote avoiding manipulation – who has that much energy? Plus, women want a man to pursue her of his own volition – it’s the only way a man will get invested in winning you over. Anything else is a waste of time.

Turns out I actually agree with what these two male dating coaches have to say – in terms of dating advice for women, but not in terms of how women give bad dating advice! Oh men and their egos! Nobody does it better- sounds like a James Bond movie right?

For example, check out this quote from Dave Wygant, ""Smiling at us does not mean we’ll think we’re going to get it on in the bathroom," he said. "Really, all the man’s thinking is, ‘How was I lucky enough this morning that a woman is making it easy for me for the very first time?’ "In fact, I just made this case and point last night at a workshop called he Secret to Finding Love Today in Westport, CT.

Doesn’t seem like they are overly original, even if the suggestions and point of view may be on target.

Perhaps there are those women coaches who indulge in manipulation tactics – but I’ve never been that good at anything but a straight forward, practical approach  to life and to dating.

On the other hand, good advice, whether it’s from a man or a woman is very valuable. Get it wherever you can, but do seek it out. The straight poop on dating will save you a world of time and heartache.
